Will Benedict
In “All Bleeding Stops Eventually,” 2019, a series of six videos created by artist Will Benedict in collaboration with writer Chuz Martinez, an unlikely cast of threatened animals deliver a message to humans: change your habits or die. The videos were made in response to the U.N’s Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change’s Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere which found that the world’s oceans have warmed steadily since 1970 as they absorbed more than 90% of excess heat. Combatting the beliefs of science deniers, Benedict encourages these creatures to speak most eloquently for themselves. It’s funny and sad to listen to these endangered souls. The video reminds us that we all live on the same planet and as species disappear, so will we.
